MARIUS PAYTON

Marius Payton joined Comcast Sportsnet Houston upon its launch in the summer of 2012, and serves in a variety of anchor and reporter roles for the network.  Marius hosts CSN’s nightly scores and highlights show, Sportsnet Central, as well as Houston Astros pregame and postgame studio coverage.  He also covers spring training and the MLB Winter Meetings.  Additionally, Marius is the lead reporter on Houston Texans coverage, and as such his work has aired on NBC Sports Network.  Marius covered the 2013 NBA All-Star Game extensively, as Houston hosted the event.

No stranger to the launch of new outlets, Marius had been previously chosen by Comcast as the main anchor/host/reporter at Mountain West Sports Network when it debuted in the autumn of 2006, before the subsequent intra-company transfer to Houston.  Based in Denver for “The Mountain,” Marius hosted Mountain Sports Report, a show which provided all the latest conference sports news, and All 22, the network’s football recap show.   He covered all major college events for the network, from reporting on site at the NCAA Tournament to filing feature reports for Stories of the Mountain West.  Marius originally joined Comcast Sports Net in January, 2005.  He spent nearly two years at the network’s Mid-Atlantic outlet, as an anchor on Sportsnite, the flagship scores and highlights show, and as a reporter on all college and pro teams in the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets.  Marius covered the 2006 NCAA Tournament, filing reports on the participation of Georgetown and George Washington Universities, as well as George Mason’s magical run to the Final Four.  He also contributed various features and live shots to Comcast SportsNet outlets in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.

Prior to this experience, Marius was a sports anchor/reporter at KTVX-TV In Salt Lake City from 1998-2004, covering local and national games for Utah sports fans.  Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Marius attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City, where he majored in communications.
